St. Bernard mix earns Novice Trick Dog title

Novice Trick Dog - Circus Dog

Dignan NTD and Tierney

On October 15, 2012 Dignan, a St. Bernard / Aussie mix and his handler Tierney earned their Novice Trick Dog (NTD) title via private dog training sessions with professional dog trainer Michael Burkey of Michigan Dog Trainer in Livonia, Michigan.

Dignan and Tierney have been training with Burkey to increase Degnan’s obedience and his comfort level in playing with other dogs. In the below videos, Dignan is being taught to go to “place” (to go to a pre-determined spot and remain there until released) and has a fun romp with Burkey’s dog Starbuck, a German Shepherd.

In addition to running his own dog training business, Burkey is an Associate Trick Dog Instructor for Kyra Sundance of Do More With Your Dog. For the Novice Trick Dog title, Dignan became eligible to receive a NTD certificate, colorful charm, and placement on Sundance’s website noting his accomplishment. Tierney plans to join Burkey’s Circus Dog Class at the Humane Society of Huron Valley in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Therefore, contact Burkey, so you too can do more with your dog!
